Kerala Waterscapes(Cochin – Munnar – Periyar – Kumarakom – Kovalam – Kanyakumari)

Description: Begin your tour at Cochin and move on to the undulating beauty of Munnar. Get close with the wildlife and birds of Periyar and relax at the beaches of Kovalam and the mangrove forests of Kumarakom. And finally touch the end of the country at Kanyakumari and watch the confluence of the three seas.

Day 01
Cochin
Arrive in Cochin, embark on a sightseeing tour to explore the many fascinating highlights of Cochin. This includes – the Jewish Synagogue in what is locally called the Jew Town, St. Francis Church which is the oldest European Church in India, the Santa Cruz Basilica built in 1557 by the Portuguese, the Dutch Palace, the Spice market and the 15th century Chinese fishing nets. Overnight at hotel.

Day 02
Cochin – Munnar
Paradise of nature lovers, surrounded by the Annamalai Hills, a hill station located 1600 meters above sea level. Once the summer resort of the erstwhile British administration in South India, it still retains its colonial charm and is famous for its tea plantations, rolling hills, picture postcard hamlets and undulating valleys. Check into your hotel and unwind. The major attractions are Rajamala and the Eravikulam National Park, home to the Nilgiri Thar. Overnight at hotel.

Day 03
Munnar – Periyar
Periyar is known for its undulating hills, spice plantations, and elephant sightings. One of the 27 tiger reserves in India, the Periyar valley in Thekkady is the oldest. There are over 320 species of birds in Periyar, including Nilgiri Wood Pigeons, Blue-winged Parakeets; White bellied Tree Pies, Laughing Thrushes and Fly Catchers. Visit the Periyar wild life sanctuary, tiger reserve, boating in Periyar Lake, and watch the wild animals. Overnight at hotel.

Day 04
Periyar – Kumarakom
An unbelievably beautiful paradise of mangrove forests, emerald green paddy fields and coconut groves, Kumarakom offers visitors many leisure options like boating, fishing and watching rare birds at the bird sanctuary or a relaxing Ayurvedic massage.

Day 05
Kumarakom – Kovalam
A sheltered natural bay, leisure options at this beach are plenty and diverse – sunbathing, swimming, herbal body toning, Catamaran cruising etc. (at extra cost).Overnight at hotel.

Day 06
Kovalam – Kanyakumari
Located at the southernmost tip of India, Kanyakumari is the geographical end of the mainland. En route visit Padmanabapuram Palace and Sucheendram temple. At Kanyakumari visit Vivekananda memorial & Kumariamman Temple, situated at the confluence of the three water-bodies – the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean. Overnight at hotel.

Trivandrum Return to Trivandrum to catch your flight back home.
