Description: The Croatia – Bosnia – Herzegovina tour includes visits to UNESCO listed sites like Dubrovnik, Mostar and Split. A visit to capital city Sarajevo and the Plitvice Lakes National Park are important highlights of the tour.
Day 1 – On arrival at the Dubrovnik airport, guests will be met with our local representative who will escort you to the hotel. One of the most famed tourist spots on the Adriatic, Dubrovnik was added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1979. For the remaining day, tourists are free to explore the city, also known as the pearl of Adriatic.
Day 2 – Following an overnight stay in Dubrovnik, we will depart for Mostar, the largest and most important city in the Herzegovina region. The city was also recently included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. Upon arrival, we will embark on a tour of this ancient city. The first stop will be one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks, The Old Bridge, which was built during the Ottoman era. We will also visit a small and simple Ottoman mosque built in 1618, which offers a beautiful view of the town. We will also tour the Old Bazaar and take a look at a typical Turkish house.
Later in the afternoon, the tour will move on to Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. As part of the city tour, tourists will visit the landmark Bascarsija, the main street of Sarajevo, built in Ottoman-Turkish style. Then we will visit the Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque, one of Sarajevo’s important Islamic structures and also one of the finest examples of Ottoman Architecture in the world. You will also visit the Tunnel War Museum, constructed by besieged Sarajevo citizens to link the city with the neutral Sarajevo Airport controlled by the United Nations. When the tour ends, you will be transferred to your hotel where arrangements have been made for overnight stay.
Day 3 – Next day after breakfast, arrangements have been made for travel northwards to Zabreb with a stopover at Slavonski Brod for lunch. Located in Central Croatia, Zagreb is the state capital. You will be transferred to your hotel on arrival and are free to explore the city on your own.
Day 4 – After an overnight stay in Zabreb, the city tour will begin with a visit to the fortified Upper Town, also known as Gornji grad. We will then visit St. Marks Church, the parish church of old Zagreb, which is rumored to have been built as early as the 13th century. A visit to the tallest building in Croatia, the Zagreb Catherdal is also part of the tour itinerary.
Continuing the tour, we will visit the 1840 established Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, which is at par with many other national theatres around Europe. A visit will also be paid to the oldest functioning Croatian university and also the oldest university in southeastern Europe. At the end of the tour, we will depart for Plitvice where overnight stay arrangements are already in place.
Day 5 – At Plitvice, we will first visit Croatia’s most popular tourist destination – the Plitvice Lakes National Park, which was granted UNESCO World Heritage status in 1979. Located halfway between Zagreb and Zadar on the coast, the park has a grand collection of waterfalls, lakes, forest and animal life. The lakes are world famous for their distinctive colors, like azure, green, gray or blue. The colors change constantly depending on the quantity of minerals or organisms in the water and the angle of sunlight. The sixteen lakes formed by natural dams of travertine are separated into upper and lower lakes. At the end of the tour, transfer back to your hotel in Plitvice.
Day 6 – After breakfast next day, we will depart for the historic town and harbor Trogir on the Adriatic coast in Croatia. We will visit the city’s Cathedral of St. Lawrence, a Roman Catholic triple-naved basilica constructed in Romanesque-Gothic style. It is now one of the most imposing monuments in Trogir.
Next we visit Split, the largest and oldest city in Dalmatia, the second-largest urban centre in Croatia, and the seat of Split-Dalmatia County. We will also visit Diocletians Palace, listed on the UNESCOs List of World Cultural Heritage Sites with the Peristyl. The Palace was built by Roman emperor Diocletian at the turn of the 4th century AD. We will also tour the Jupiter temple, dedicated to the main Roman God Jupiter and the Cathedral of St. Duje. At the end of the tour, you will be transferred to the hotel in Split for an overnight stay.
Then we will visit the Jupiters temple, which is dedicated to the god Jupiter, main deity of the ancient Romans. At last we will visit The Cathedral of St. Duje which is the Catholic cathedral of Split. At the end, transfer to your hotel in Split. Overnight in Split.
Day 7 – We will depart for Dubrovnik on the seventh day. Upon arrival, we will begin the city tour with visits to sites included in UNESCO’s World Cultural Heritage List like Europe’s third oldest pharmacy, the Rectors Palace and the Assumption Cathedral. You will be transferred to your hotel after the tour where you can enjoy your last night in Croatia.
Day 8 – On the last day of the tour, check out from the hotel after breakfast and you will be transferred to the airport for your onward journey.
